Peace Out

from Katrina Ford by Katrina Ford

about

"#136 reason not to drink. Drunk in the desert I once passed out with my hands in a fire. Sean wrote this intentionally foot draggy rhythm that became 'Peace Out'. Choir pads, it’s the soft engine as it slows. It is the
after after party. Hangovers blended into euphoric indulgent self
care. Using flint to communicate with crickets. Letting in the
slow. Healing in isolation. The journey to sobriety. We mixed
this with Tony Duggan in Glasgow , it rained a lot but the sky
was filled with rainbows everyday."

lyrics

After dark
All I can hear here are
Crickets shimmering lighting flints in sparks
Take me down so low
Take me down in the space of a week
So deep I didn’t know

Is there anyone
Who can follow down the rabbit hole down the rabbit hole
Is there anyone
I got to go
Peace out Lay low lay low lay

How how do I lay my blown mind down well I take my time
My sweet time
Give me 1000 cocoons
It takes so long to climb the stairs
And find my room

Is there anyone
Who can follow down the rabbit hole down the rabbit hole
Is there anyone
I got to go
Peace out lay low lay low lay low
It’s been so nice but not another drink
Happy hour till 2 ,undo what this day has done not another drink
Shot down and sink the sun
Is there any one
Take me down so low
Take me down in the space of the week
So deep I didn’t know
Is there anyone who can follow down the rabbit hole
Down the rabbit hole.

about

Katrina Ford Baltimore, Maryland

Harrowing. Unhinged. Fiery. Disturbing. Forceful and delicate. These are all words that have been used to describe Katrina’s acrobatic, boundless approach to singing. Or as Pitchfork writer Tom Breihan put it in a Celebration review 16 years ago, "Katrina Ford makes Polly Jean Harvey sound like Sandra Dee...[and] has the technical skill to sing anything she wants - opera, cabaret, rock, whatever." ... more
